Biography
Ferdie Hartzenberg was born in Middelburg on 17 March 1972. He obtained a BA Technologiae Fine Art (Honours) at the Technikon Pretoria in 1997, with sculpture, art theory and art history as major subjects, with ceramics as a sub major for three years.
He spent two years traveling Europe and since his return in 1999, he has worked full time as a sculptor, working mainly in steel.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
1996
Worked as part of a team on a sculpture of a life size policeman for SAPS.
1996
ABSA Bank acquires one of his sculptures for their collection.
1998
ABSA Bank invites him to submit a proposal for a large-scale public sculpture.
1999(April to Dec)
Worked as a stonemason for the British Museum, London.
2002
Traveled to Egypt & Israel (starts work on a limestone sculpture in Israel for a private collection).
